Google’s Play Store got a Design Revamp on Oct 16, 2015. The makeover included changes in Information Architecture, Color scheme, Navigation and Animation. Out of all the new changes, the one which caught my eye was the ‘Breadcrumb Navigation’.
As shown below, the new Navigation is different from the traditional ones in the following ways:
- Saves a click in going Back to the previous state
- Uses less space to show the same information
- Wisely uses Hover to display the Menu supporting Retention than Recall
Introducing such new UI Patterns not only encourages the Designs to follow User-Centered Design but also pushes the developers to drive the technology to be more human friendly.
